Daily Message:

"Fathers are to sons what blacksmiths are to swords. It is the job of the blacksmith not only to make a sword but also to maintain its edge of sharpness.
It is the job of the father to keep his son sharp and save him from the dullness of foolishness. He gives his son that sharp edge through discipline."--Steve Farrar

Statement of Faith
Mission
We believe in one God eternally existent in three persons. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19-20)

We believe God the Father:
  • Is God (John 6:27)
  • He created the world (Proverbs 30:4)
  • He sent The Son to save us (I John 4:14)
  • Through The Son we have access to the Father (I John 2:1-2)
  • The Father holds us in His hand (John 10:29-30)
We believe that Jesus Christ:
  • Created the world (John 1:3)
  • Is The Eternal Son of God (Proverbs 30:4; John 8:56-58)
  • Was Born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23-25)
  • Lived a perfect life (Hebrews 4:15)
  • Is The Fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:8-9)
  • Was Our Perfect Sacrifice (2 Corinthians 5:21)
  • Died, was Buried, And Rose again The Third Day (I Corinthians 15:3-4)
  • Is now Our Great High Priest (Hebrews 10:10-12)
  • Is coming again (I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
We believe that the Holy Spirit:
  • Is God (Acts 5:3-4)
  • Created the world (Genesis 1:26-27)
  • Is our comforter (John 14:16)
  • Is the guarantee of our inheritance (Ephesians 1:13-14)
  • Intercedes for us (Romans 8:26-27)
We believe that man:
  • Has a heart that is deceitfully wicked (Jeremiah 17:9)
  • Is doomed to Hell (Psalm 9:17)
  • Can be saved by believing in faith in the Person and Work of Jesus Christ (John 3:18; Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • Is instantly made new at the moment of Salvation (II Corinthians 5:17)
  • Has work to do which God has planned for Him (Ephesians 2:10)
  • Is on a life long journey toward righteousness (Romans 7:15-17; Romans 8:29; Philippians 1:6)
  • Will be made completely perfect when Christ comes again (I John 3:2)
To encourage the Saints to walk in such a way as to ensure "That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ."
(2 Thess. 1:12)

What People Are Saying:

“Andrew has been leading a boys small group in the Potter’s House Discipleship program for the past year.  I am continually blessed by Andrew's faithful service, and his positive cheerful countenance.  Andrew is one of those rare Christians who has embraced all God has brought into his life--the good, the difficult, the questions that have no answers, and accepts it all and fully with joy!  When he speaks, he speaks with Spiritual maturity and deep conviction.  He not only KNOWS the Word of God--He lives it!  His love for his Lord Jesus Christ is clearly evident in all that he says and clearly comes out of a deep relationship that has been growing for years...I feel it a privilege to know him and have been blessed by his testmony :)."

"It has been a pleasure to have Andrew Gommesen in Studio with us for our reoccurring “Devotions in Motion” segment. It’s a one thought daily devotional that digs deeper into God's word. What’s so cool about Andrew is he is always grounded in God's word. We are so pleased to encourage people to read his book and look into Speaking4Him ministries."

“There are many who keep the word of God in their heart, but Andrew Gommesen is one who lives God’s word. His heart has been touched by the love of Christ and in every realm of his life he lives and loves with Christ’s love. I have not only been humbled by His ministry, but in many ways the powerful message that Andrew has shared has brought me to a place of reconciliation with the Lord. As my wife puts it, “He is a friend to everyone he meets, and he glows with the love of Jesus.” His life is lived in full–blast, outward praise and worship…and his ministry is all about the heart of Jesus Christ. ”

"The first time I saw Andrew was when he was delivering the Gospel message to a large crowd gathered at the Guiding Light Mission (a local homeless shelter in Grand Rapids, Michigan). When I saw Andrew's physical condition then realized that this man was preaching in the power of the Holy Spirit, he looked ten feet tall. He was David fighting Goliath and was surely engaged in the spiritual battle to win souls from the kingdom of darkness. Andrew is a now a good friend and I am honored to call him brother. You will be blessed by his humble but uncompromising biblical knowledge and his devotion to the family as God has designed it. He will bless your church, your bible study, and when you come to know him, he will bless you!"

David Dalrymple, DDS, MD
“I want to heartily endorse Andrew Gommesen as a minister of the Gospel. He brought a message of hope to our two churches and our third service on Saturday evening. I have heard very positive responses from folks who were deeply moved by the presentation of the Gospel through the ministry of Andrew. If you were thinking about hosting Andrew, I can say that it is worth having him speak and would invite him in the future.”

Reverend David Selleck: Martin/Shelbyville United Methodist Churches
“Andrew is one of the most passionate prayer warriors you will ever find. I also like his straight forward honesty when it comes to him dealing with life. It is refreshing and encouraging to see a person willing to go the extra mile to help others.”

Robb Munger: Director Exodus Building (Housing and Recovery Program)
"These days we have a million choices regarding how we spend our time and focus our attention. The area of ministry is no exception. There are so many out there, many of them truly God centered, but many of them man centered. Christian ministry isn't just another self help program nor is it about us finding earthly comfort. Andrew Gommesen preaches in the true tradition of Christian evangelism, teaching the gospel and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. The Lord has blessed him with a testimony that has given him depth and wisdom well beyond his years.

If you want to see Jesus Christ up close and personal, then I assure you that Andrew Gommesen's love and obedience to the Lord deliver in power, truth and love."

Ivor Thomas: Ivor Thomas Music/I-61 Project
"I have known Andrew since he was a boy. He is a very serious and sensitive young man who loves His Lord and Savior. The Lord has called Him to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through "Speaking4Him" with everyone he meets. To that end, my wife and I are pleased to encourage you to use his gifts and talents to compliment your ministry and programs.

Everyone that has had the opportunity to meet Andrew has been touched by his knowledge of Scripture. He is especially eager to share biblical truth as they apply the family. He has done in-depth study of the unique roles to which God has called men and wemen. Our prayer is that you will consder using his open and willing spirit to bless your group, church, or ministry."

About Andrew:

My name is Andrew Gommesen. I was saved when I was almost 5. Unfortunately, I spent much of the next 9 years arguing with God. I kept telling him that if he had given me a healthy body instead of the crippled one I got, then I could serve Him. My friends, let me just say that when you argue with God, you lose even before you get started. Moses's argument with God in Ex. 4 shows where I was.

"And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? (vs. 10-11)

God used that story along with a bible conference session on the 10 unchangables of life (which included my physical body) to wake me up. To backtrack a little, I reached an all-time low when my healthy, happy, 3-month old baby brother John-Michael died in his sleep. I remember sobbing in my mothers arms and asking things like..."WHY HIM! WHY NOT ME, I'M SO USELESS!"  I am so glad I was too much of a coward, or (in my case) too physically unable to kill myself, because I might have. God is so good!

Anyway that day at the bible conference to show me that I didn't need to change on the outside to be used, I needed to be changed inside. From that point forward, I committed to being God's mouthpiece wherever I go. I'm not always faithful...but HE IS!!!

He has given me many opportunities to serve Him, but to be honest over the last two years I have felt many of the same doubts that characterized my youth. I think God is testing me so that I will know that I believe the message I have been preaching for the last 14 years...He already knows all that..:)

I want to go wherever God opens a door for me to... preach Christ crucified (I Cor. 1:23) My main desire is to encourage the Saints to walk in such a way as to ensure "That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ." (2 Thess. 1:12)   I will gladly go through whatever doors God opens.

As I embark upon this ministry, please lift up the following requests on my behalf.
"Tent making" opportunity.  I am willing to minister full-time if that is what the Lord desires. However, I want to be able to say as Paul once did "For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God." (I Thess. 2:9)
"A godly wife.  I believe God wants to bless me in this way and I ask that you pray for and with me that I will prepare adequately, and that God will provide wisdom in this area.  "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.  For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up."(Ecc. 4:9-10)
"Speaking opportunities.  Just pray that I will be faithful in the opportunities God gives me to share his word and that he will expand my ministry.  "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much." (Luke 16:10)

Striving together for the Faith of the Gospel,

Andrew
